Video transcript: What students and parents say about Murouj Academy

Students and parents describe the teachers as knowledgeable, kind and caring, and the staff as very responsive.

Here is why students from around the world are loving Murouj Academy.

They're very, mashallah, knowledgeable, kind, sweet, caring teachers and the staff also, mashallah, very responsive.

They're very, very, very professional.

I started not knowing any recitation of the Quran and now I am at a very fluent level, alhamdulillah.

We're very happy with both of the teachers. They teach in a very kind, nurturing way, always explaining what the surahs mean, and they've come a long way in the past year.

I want to say shukran to my teacher for always being kind and teaching me Arabic and giving me all the meanings of the surah, and I really understand it. So I really want to say shukran for it.

We're honoured to teach students from around the world from the comfort of their homes.

Thank you.

What are Islamic studies for teenagers?

Islamic studies for teenagers teach the basics of Islam at a teen level: what Muslims believe, how they worship, the life of the Prophet ﷺ, the stories of the prophets and the character Islam teaches. It is for teens aged 13 to 17 who want clear, reliable basics and a place to ask their questions.

Murouj Academy teaches these Islamic classes for teenagers as a foundation course, not advanced scholarship. Classes are online, live and one-to-one, never recorded. Girls learn with female teachers and boys with male teachers, and the first class is a free trial.

Who is this course for?

  • Teens with questions about their faith

A calm place to ask what they really wonder about and get plain, reliable answers.

  • Teens who already read or memorize the Quran

Add the beliefs, worship and stories that sit behind the Quran they recite.

  • Girls

Always a female teacher, in a fully private one-to-one class.

  • Boys

A male teacher for boys aged 13 to 17, one-to-one.

What will you learn?

Your teacher builds a personalized curriculum from these stages, starting from your level.

  1. Core beliefs ('aqidah)

    • The six pillars of faith
    • Who Allah is, and what it means to believe in Him
    • Angels, the books, the messengers and the Day of Judgement
  2. The fiqh of worship

    • Purification: wudu and ghusl
    • Salah step by step, from the call to prayer to the final salam
    • Fasting and the basics of Ramadan
    • Zakat and charity in simple terms
  3. The life of the Prophet ﷺ (seerah)

    • His life in order, from his birth to Madinah
    • His character and what teenagers can learn from it
  4. Stories of the prophets

    • The stories of Adam, Nuh, Ibrahim, Yusuf and Musa, peace be upon them
    • What each story teaches about patience, honesty and trust in Allah
  5. Adab and character

    • Honesty, kindness and respect for parents, teachers and friends
    • Modesty and good conduct at school and online
    • Everyday du'as and the etiquette of daily life

Milestones along the way

  • Explain the pillars of faith in your own words
  • Make wudu and pray salah step by step
  • Understand the basics of fasting and zakat
  • Tell the main events in the life of the Prophet ﷺ and retell the stories of the prophets
  • Use everyday du'as and good manners with confidence

How fast you progress depends on your starting point, age, weekly classes and practice. Your teacher sets a plan after the free trial class and reviews it with you.

What do the five parts of the course cover?

Each part answers one plain question, and your teacher moves between them at your teen's pace.

PartThe questionWhat you cover
AqeedahWhat do Muslims believe? The pillars of faith, taught simply

Does your teen also need to read the Quran? See Quran classes for kids and teens, Qaida classes for beginners and the online hifz program. For younger children there is Islamic studies for kids.

Is this a foundation course or advanced study?

It is a foundation course. Your teen learns the basics well and asks every question in plain words. It does not replace long study with scholars, and it does not try to cover every detail of every topic.

Read the rules of Islam, the stories of the prophets and the guide to prayers in Islam for a first look. Adults can read about Quran classes for adults and Understand the Quran: basic tafsir.

How do the classes work?

  • One-to-one, never in a group

Your teen asks questions freely and gets real answers, and nobody shares the time.

  • A plan built around your teen

Topics follow your teen's questions and level, and the teacher adjusts the pace as you go.

  • Matched for you

Murouj matches a suitable available teacher for the free trial class and switches if the fit is not right. Never random.

  • Zoom, Google Meet or Halqora

Live in your time zone on Zoom, Google Meet or Halqora, Murouj's classroom software. Never recorded.

Lessons are 30, 45 or 60 minutes, with the number a week agreed when you book (see the class plans page). For times in your time zone, see our pages for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Australia.
