Yes: Murouj Academy runs part-time online hifz for kids in the USA, with 2 to 5 one-to-one lessons a week built around school, revision in every class and native Arab teachers. You start with a free trial class.
What does part-time hifz look like for a child in the USA?
A part-time plan fits memorisation into an ordinary school week instead of replacing it. Your child has one teacher, who stays the same lesson after lesson once the fit is right, and every lesson is live and one-to-one on Zoom, Google Meet or Halqora, Murouj's own online classroom software.
| Part-time hifz at Murouj Academy | |
|---|---|
| Classes a week | 2 to 5, each 30, 45 or 60 minutes |
| When | After school, evenings and weekends, in your US time zone |
| Each lesson | New memorisation, recent revision and older review, heard aloud |
| Minimum age | 4, starting from the letters and short surahs |
| Progress | A written report in your family's WhatsApp group after every class |
| Girls | Always taught by a female teacher |
How does revision stay part of every lesson?
Memorising is the easy half; keeping it is the hard half. In Murouj Academy's hifz lessons the teacher listens to three things:
- Sabaq, the new portion your child has prepared.
- Sabqi, the last few days of memorisation, recited again to fix it.
- Manzil, a rotating review of everything memorised so far.
Because the teacher hears the revision, a weak page shows up early. Students who have already memorised part or all of the Quran can join for revision only: see Quran revision (muraja'ah) and our guide to how to revise memorised Quran.
What are the after-school and weekend hours?
Our teachers work to US hours, so a US school day suits the teaching day. Slots are confirmed at the free trial.
| US family's day | What it suits |
|---|---|
| Weekdays after school and before dinner | The core window for a 30 or 45-minute lesson |
| Weekday mornings before school | Possible, subject to teacher availability |
| Saturday and Sunday | Longer, calmer lessons without school pressure |
Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific families all book in their own local time. See the USA page for time zones, or the pages for Texas and California.
Which age should my child start hifz?
- Ages 4 to 8: the letters, the Noorani Qaida and the shortest surahs, in short lessons. Start with Qaida classes for beginners if your child cannot read yet.
- Ages 9 to 12: reading with Tajweed and a steady hifz plan, often Juz Amma first.
- Ages 13 to 17: memorisation planned around exams, with recitation corrected as it is memorised.
Tajweed matters because a memorised mistake is hard to undo. Your child's teacher corrects pronunciation as the portion is learned.
What if my child wants more than part-time?
Families who want daily classes can look at the intensive hifz program, and our weekend hifz program explains a weekend-based plan. Talk to your teacher if you want to change the plan. Our general online Quran memorization course page sets out the levels.
Who teaches hifz, and how do I know they are qualified?
Every teacher is a native Arabic speaker, most speak English, and only the top 4% of applicants qualify through our five-step selection (recitation, Tajweed, teaching skills, English and a mock lesson). Some hold an ijazah, and each profile states that teacher's own studies. Murouj matches the teacher for the free trial, and if the fit is not right we switch to another. Read about our hifz teachers or see every profile on the teachers page. For how children are kept safe in lessons, read our safeguarding page.
What lesson plans are available for US families?
Lesson length (30, 45 or 60 minutes), classes a week (2 to 5) and the course set the plan, and every plan starts with a free trial class. For pricing, contact us or see the USA page.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Answers to what parents and students ask us most.
Ask us on WhatsAppIs there an online hifz program for kids in the USA that fits around school?
Yes. Murouj Academy's part-time hifz plan is 2 to 5 one-to-one classes a week of 30, 45 or 60 minutes, booked after school, in the evening or at the weekend in your own US time zone. The teacher sizes each portion to your child's time, so a school week never gets crowded.
How old does my child have to be to start hifz online?
The minimum age at Murouj Academy is 4. A young child usually starts with the Arabic letters and the Noorani Qaida, then short surahs. The free trial class shows the teacher where your child is, and hifz begins once your child can read.
Can my child learn hifz after school and on weekends only?
Yes. Our teachers work to US hours, so weekday after-school slots, before-school slots subject to teacher availability and Saturday lessons are all possible. Many families keep two weekday lessons and one weekend lesson.
How does revision work in part-time hifz?
Every lesson mixes new memorisation (sabaq), recent revision (sabqi) and a rotating review of older portions (manzil). The teacher hears each part aloud, so revision is checked and not left to the child. Revision-only (muraja'ah) students are welcome too.
How long will it take my child to memorise the Quran part-time?
There is no honest single number. It depends on your child's age, how many classes a week, home practice and steady revision. Your teacher sets a personal plan in the first weeks and reviews it with you, and you can aim at Juz Amma, selected surahs or the whole Quran.
Who teaches hifz to children, and are they qualified?
Native Arabic-speaking teachers who are selected in five steps, with only the top 4% of applicants qualifying. Some hold an ijazah, and each profile on the teachers page states that teacher's own studies. A girl is always taught by a female teacher.
Can parents follow progress?
Yes. After every class a written report goes to your family's own WhatsApp group with our admin team: performance, what was covered, homework and the teacher's notes. A student with daily classes gets a daily report.
Is the first hifz class free?
Yes. The first class is a free one-to-one trial with a teacher we match to your child. There is no obligation to buy a package, and for pricing you can contact us.
Ready to begin?
Your free trial class is with a teacher Murouj matches to you, and if the fit is not right, Murouj switches to another teacher. Women and girls always learn with female teachers.
