Types of Ijazah

 

Ijazah meaning in English:

  • The Quran is the central religious text of Islam, which is the revelation from Allah. Ijazah is an Arabic word meaning “authorization” or “permission.” In the context of the Quran, Ijazah refers to the certification that a person has received to teach the Quran.
  • Ijazah of the Quran is granted by a scholar who has received Ijazah after the student has demonstrated his or her mastery of the Quran. Ijazah of Hadith is granted by a scholar who has himself received Ijazah, after the student has demonstrated his or her mastery of the Hadith.
  • There are many benefits to obtaining the Quran Ijazah, or any of the types of Ijazah. First and foremost, it is a way to gain a deeper understanding of the Quran. It also allows Muslims to connect with other Muslims who have also received Ijazah. Finally, it is a way to show one’s commitment to Islam.

Types of Ijazah: Here are some types of Ijazah.

  • The first type of Ijazah is the specific permission of a specific text for an individual, it is known as “Ijazah muʿayyanin li-muʿayyan fi muʿayyan”
  • The second type is the permission that is given for a specific one or more individuals but not on a specific text, this type is known as “Ijazah muʿayyanin li-muʿayyan fi ghayri muʿayyanin”
  • The third type of Ijazah is the universal type or the public leave; in which permission of narration is given to all Muslims, this type is known as “Ijazah al-ʿumum”

Types of Quran Ijazah:

There are two main types of Ijazah in the Quran:

  • Ijazah in Tajweed: It is the certification given to a Muslim who can recite the Quran precisely with tajweed while not making any mistakes in front of a certified Ijazah Sheikh.
  • Ijazah in Hifz: Ijazah in hifz or ijazah in Quran memorization is the certification given to a Muslim who perfectly memorized by heart the whole Quran and recites it in front of a certified Quran teacher or Sheikh. This certificate also authorizes or allows its holders to teach others the Quran and the students of the Ijazah in hifz certificate holder could also obtain the certificate after learning from this holder.

 

Quran Ijazah Online:

  • As there is a huge importance for Quran ijazah; therefore, there are online Islamic academies that provide Quran ijazah courses online, whether online Quran memorization ijazah or online Quran tajweed Ijazah.
  • These online courses have qualified teachers that are certified and very skillful. Most of these online Quran courses have a test or quiz by the end of the course, and if the student passed, he/she will obtain the Ijazah certificate or a corresponding certificate.

 

 

How to get Ijazah in Hadith?

  • There are two types of Ijazah: Ijazah of the Quran and Ijazah of Hadith. Ijazah of the Quran is the authorization to teach the Quran, while Ijazah of Hadith is the authorization to conduct the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad.
