Answers about classes, teachers and the free trial. More on our facts page.
Ask us on WhatsAppAre Murouj Academy courses one-to-one or in groups?
One-to-one only. Murouj Academy never runs group classes: every student has their own teacher and a personalised curriculum.
Can I try a course before I start?
Yes. Every course starts with a free trial class with the teacher, who checks your level and suggests where to begin.
How is my teacher matched?
Murouj matches each student with a suitable teacher for the free trial class. If the fit is not right, Murouj switches to another teacher, and this can repeat. When the fit is right, you continue with that teacher. Matching is never random.
Do women and girls learn with female teachers?
Yes, always. Female teachers are dedicated to female students, and every class is fully private and one-to-one. Adult men are taught by male teachers. For children, Murouj matches the teacher, and most children learn with female teachers.
Which ages do you teach?
All ages, in four groups: Early kids (4 to 8), Kids (9 to 12), Teens (13 to 17) and Adults (18 and over). Every class is one-to-one and every student follows a personalised plan.
Are there Quran classes for a 4 or 5 year old?
Yes. The minimum age is 4. A 4-year-old or 5-year-old is in our Early kids group (4 to 8) and usually starts with the Arabic letters and the Noorani Qaida in Qaida classes for beginners, in short one-to-one lessons. The free trial shows whether your child is ready.
Is there an online Quran teacher for my 8-year-old?
Yes. An 8-year-old is in the Early kids group, and from 9 your child joins the Kids group (9 to 12). Depending on level, an 8-year-old starts with Qaida or moves on to reading with Tajweed. Murouj matches a suitable teacher for the free trial class.
Do you teach Quran to teenagers and adult beginners?
Yes. Teens (13 to 17) usually work on Tajweed, recitation correction and memorisation. Adults (18 and over) can start from the first Arabic letter in Qaida classes, then move to reading and Tajweed. Both learn one-to-one and in private.
Who teaches the courses?
Native Arab teachers, including ijazah holders. Many of our teachers studied at or are certified by Al-Azhar.
Which course should a complete beginner take?
Start with Qaida classes for beginners if you cannot yet read Arabic letters. If you can read and want to study the tajweed rules, start with Tajweed classes; if you can read and want your recitation corrected and made fluent, start with Quran recitation correction.
Do you teach Arabic as well as the Quran?
Yes. The Quran is our main focus, and we also teach Arabic with native Arab teachers: reading, writing, understanding and speaking, in Modern Standard Arabic or the Arabic of the Quran.
Ready to begin?
Your free trial class is with a teacher Murouj matches to you, and if the fit is not right, Murouj switches to another teacher. Women and girls always learn with female teachers.
