Because all of our teachers speak English fluently.

Also, we specialize in teaching non-native Arabic speakers from zero to fluency.

Feel free to contact us and start your journey today.

An online Qaida teacher at Murouj Academy teaches you to read Arabic from zero with the Noorani Qaida, one letter at a time, until you can read the Quran on your own. Every teacher is a native Arabic speaker, most speak English and some teach in German, every lesson is live and one-to-one, and you start with a free trial class.

What a Qaida teacher does

  • Starts from the first letter, with the shape and sound of each one.
  • Hears every letter and corrects it on the spot.
  • Builds step by step: joined letters, vowel marks, sukun and shaddah, then full words.
  • Leads you to your first verses from the mushaf.

Who it is for

  • Children from age 4, in short, friendly lessons with repetition.
  • Adult beginners, starting from the first letter, in private and at their own pace.
  • Women, girls and new Muslim sisters, always with a female teacher. See the Quran for new Muslim sisters.
  • Anyone rebuilding the basics: your teacher checks what you remember and starts there.

You need no Arabic, and lessons are in English.

How we select our teachers

Knowing the Quran is not enough: they must know how to teach.

  1. Ijazah and recitation check
  2. Tajweed knowledge check
  3. Teaching skills check
  4. English fluency check
  5. Mock lesson

Ijazah is strongly encouraged. A certified scholar who works with Murouj can grant one, and we recommend promising teachers to study with her to earn one.

What a lesson looks like

One teacher, one student, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, live on Zoom, Google Meet or Halqora, never recorded.

  1. You read the letters or words for that stage aloud.
  2. Your teacher corrects each one and models the sound.
  3. You repeat until it is clear, then move on to the next step.
  4. A written report reaches your family's WhatsApp group after class.

Female and male teachers

Women and girls are always taught by female teachers, who also teach boys aged 4 to 12. Male teachers teach boys and men only.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what parents and students ask us most.

Ask us on WhatsApp

Who will my Qaida teacher be?

Murouj matches the best available teacher for your needs after you book a free trial class. Families do not pick from a list. If the fit is not right, Murouj switches you to another teacher, and this can repeat until it is.

What is the Noorani Qaida?

The Noorani Qaida is a step-by-step primer for reading Arabic from zero: the letters, then joined letters, vowel marks, sukun and shaddah, until the student can read the Quran. Your Qaida teacher takes you through it one stage at a time.

Do I need to know any Arabic to start?

No. Nothing is needed before you start, and lessons are in English. Your teacher starts from the first letter, and your level is checked in the free trial class.

Can adults learn the Noorani Qaida online?

Yes. Adult beginners start from the first letter, in private and at their own pace. Men are taught by male teachers and women by female teachers.

How young can a child start with a Qaida teacher?

The minimum age is 4. Every Murouj teacher is qualified to teach young children, with short, friendly lessons and plenty of repetition.

Is there a female Qaida teacher for me or my daughter?

Yes. Women and girls are always taught by female teachers, in a fully private one-to-one class. Female teachers also teach boys aged 4 to 12. Male teachers teach boys and men only.

What comes after the Qaida?

Once a student can read words and verses, the plan moves on to Tajweed or memorization. Your teacher suggests the next step based on your goal.
