Online Quran Classes in London: After-School and Weekend Lessons with Native Arab Teachers

Murouj Academy teaches the Quran to London children and adults online, one-to-one on video. The teachers are native Arabic speakers. There is no London address or classroom: a lesson is a live video call from your living room, usually after the school run, with the time arranged at your free trial.

What time are online Quran classes for London families?

London's school day is the starting point. State schools in England are expected to run at least a 32.5-hour week including breaks (DfE guidance), so many children are home by about 3:30 pm. Our teachers' hours are flexible, so after-school and weekend lessons are arranged with you at the free trial.

London time Fit for London families
Weekdays 4:00 to 8:00 pm The main window for school-age children and for adults after work
Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm A calm weekend slot with no homework in the way
Sunday Arranged with the teacher; ask at the free trial

Times are arranged at the free trial and depend on teacher availability. We do not offer early-morning lessons before a London school day. The clocks change in March and October, and we confirm the hour with you at booking.

Why London families look for a one-to-one option

London has the largest Muslim population in the UK: 1,318,754 people, or 15.0% of Greater London, in the 2021 census. In Tower Hamlets the share is 39.9% and in Newham 34.8%, the highest in England and Wales (ONS 2021, via Islam in England).

Many of those families already use an evening madrasa. The IPPR estimated that around 250,000 children attend roughly 2,000 madrasas across Britain (IPPR). A group class gives friends and a routine; a one-to-one lesson gives the whole lesson to one child's recitation, with every mistake corrected. We see it as a second option next to the madrasa, not a replacement, and it needs no evening journey across London.

Which age groups and courses suit London students?

  • Early kids, 5 to 8: the Noorani Qaida and first reading, in short lessons soon after school. See Qaida classes for beginners.
  • Kids, 9 to 12: reading with tajweed and a steady memorisation plan, often with Islamic studies for kids alongside.
  • Teens, 13 to 17: recitation correction and tajweed in a slot that works around GCSE revision.
  • Adults, 18 and over: commuters and parents book an evening or weekend slot. Read Quran classes for adults.

Girls and women learn with female teachers

Daughters, mothers and sisters in London are taught by female teachers only, and Murouj Academy follows the Islamic privacy rule: when a female teacher teaches a female student, no non-mahram man can see her. Read how privacy works in our lessons or meet the female Quran teachers.

Frequently asked questions

Can my child take online Quran classes in London after school?

Yes. State schools in England usually finish around 3 to 3:30 pm, and London families normally book between 4 and 8 pm on weekdays. The exact slot is arranged with the teacher at your free trial, as it depends on teacher availability.

Is there a female Quran teacher online in London for my daughter?

Yes. A London daughter is taught by a woman, and the parent picks the teacher after the free trial lessons. No non-mahram man can see her during the lesson, including men in the teacher's household.

Do you have an Arabic-speaking female Quran teacher for London?

Our female teachers are native Arabic speakers and they also speak English. They teach online one-to-one, so a London student learns from the same teacher every lesson once the family commits.

Are one-to-one Quran classes for adults in London available online?

Yes. Adults in London book evening or weekend lessons, one student with one teacher. Women are taught by women and men by men, and a beginner can start from the Arabic letters with the Noorani Qaida.

Do you teach children in East London, such as Tower Hamlets and Newham?

Yes, from anywhere in London with a good internet connection. Lessons are on video, so a family in Whitechapel, Stratford or Ilford books the same way as one in Ealing: in London time, with the slot arranged at the free trial.

Are online Quran tutors for London children DBS checked?

No. A DBS check searches UK records and is designed for people who work in the UK; our teachers live and teach outside the UK, so one cannot be carried out on them in the usual way, and we do not claim one. Ask us how lessons are kept safe before you book a trial.

Can my child learn Arabic online in London with a native speaker?

Yes. Our Arabic course is taught one-to-one by a native Arabic speaker. A child who already reads the Quran comfortably can add it alongside, or take it on its own.

Are there weekend online Quran classes for London?

Yes. Saturday and Sunday lessons can be arranged in London time. The teacher confirms the time at your free trial and, as clocks change, we will tell you if the hour moves.
