Online Quran Tuition for Kids in the UK: A Parent's Guide

Disclosure: Murouj Academy publishes this guide and is one of the academies in the table below. It is not a ranking. The academies are shown in the same order as our wider comparison, the best online Quran academies (by number of Trustpilot reviews, highest first), with some left out to keep the table short, and every fact about another academy comes from that guide, which recorded what each academy says about itself on 23 October 2026. Academies change their sites, so confirm anything important on their own pages.

The short answer: the best online Quran tuition for UK children is one-to-one, taught by a tutor the parent has met in a free trial lesson, with a female tutor for girls, the same tutor every lesson and honest answers about safety, including the DBS question. Use the checklist below to compare any academy, including ours.

A parent's checklist for online Quran tuition in the UK

  1. One-to-one or group? Ask whether your child is the only student in the lesson. In a one-to-one lesson the tutor hears every recitation. Murouj Academy teaches one-to-one only and never runs group classes.
  2. A female tutor for your daughter? Ask whether this is guaranteed or only a preference. At Murouj Academy girls are always taught by female tutors, and most children learn with female tutors.
  3. The same tutor every lesson? Ask whether you choose the tutor and whether your child keeps them. At Murouj Academy the parent chooses the tutor through free trial classes; after you commit, your child continues with that tutor.
  4. What does the free trial include? Ask who teaches it, how long it lasts and whether there is any obligation. At Murouj Academy the first class is a free one-to-one trial with the tutor you choose, the tutor checks the level and suggests a plan, and there is no obligation to buy a package.
  5. What age can my child start? Several Murouj Academy teacher profiles say they teach children from age 4. Tell the academy your child's age and ask the tutor to check readiness in the trial.
  6. Do the times fit your school week? Ask for after-school, evening and weekend slots in UK time. Murouj Academy books every lesson in UK time, GMT in winter and BST in summer, in lessons of 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
  7. Are the costs and rules clear? Ask whether prices are published, how cancellation works and how invoices are sent. Murouj Academy does not publish prices: a quote follows the free trial class.

Safety questions to ask any academy

Online lessons happen at home, so it is fair to ask direct questions before your child's first class:

  • Can a parent sit in, or keep the camera on, during the lesson?
  • Are lessons recorded, and who can see the recordings?
  • What checks are made on tutors before they teach children (identity, qualifications, references)?
  • What are the rules on contact between a tutor and a child outside the lesson?
  • Who do you contact with a concern, and what happens next?

Are online Quran tutors DBS-checked?

UK parents often ask this first. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check searches UK records and is designed for people working in the UK. Murouj Academy's teachers live and teach outside the UK, so a DBS check cannot be carried out on them in the usual way, and we do not claim one. The honest question to ask any academy is what it checks instead, and whether it can show you.

What Murouj Academy confirms today: every lesson is one-to-one in our own online classroom, opened from a link with no app or account; girls and women are always taught by female tutors; the parent chooses the tutor through free trial classes before committing; and parents and guardians book and manage classes for anyone under 18 and are responsible for supervising their child's use of the internet during and around classes, as our terms say. We have not yet published a recording or observation policy, so ask us on WhatsApp before your trial. If you have a concern about a tutor, message us on WhatsApp or email info@muroujacademy.com straight away.

How does Quran tuition fit UK school terms?

The school year in England and Wales runs from early September to late July, in Northern Ireland to the end of June, and in Scotland from mid-August to late June or early July, with half-terms and longer breaks at Christmas, Easter and summer. One-to-one lessons can follow that rhythm:

  • During term, most families choose after-school lessons on weekdays, weekend mornings, or both, from two to five lessons a week.
  • Half-terms and holidays can be planned around. Ask what your tutor can offer while school is off.
  • Exam season. When GCSEs, A levels or Highers are close, talk to your tutor about any changes and agree them together.
  • The clock. London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bradford and Leicester all keep UK time. Lessons are online, so the city does not change anything: we schedule in UK time.

How do the academies compare for parents?

Facts as recorded in our guide of 23 October 2026. Prices are not quoted here: the table shows only whether an academy publishes them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best online Quran tuition for kids in the UK?

There is no single best provider for every family. Look for one-to-one lessons, a tutor you choose, a female tutor for girls, the same tutor every lesson, a free trial and clear answers to your safety questions. Murouj Academy offers one-to-one lessons, parent choice of tutor, female tutors for girls and a free trial, and says openly which safety details it has not yet published.

Are Murouj Academy tutors DBS-checked?

No. A DBS check searches UK records and our tutors live and teach outside the UK, so we do not claim one. We confirm what we can: one-to-one lessons in our own classroom, female tutors for girls, and parents choosing the tutor.

Will my daughter have a female Quran tutor?

At Murouj Academy, yes: girls and women are always taught by female tutors. Other providers differ, so ask whether a female tutor is guaranteed or only available.

Will my child keep the same tutor?

At Murouj Academy you choose the tutor through free trial classes and, once you commit, your child continues with that tutor.
