Murouj Academy teaches the Quran online to families across Toronto, Mississauga and the wider Greater Toronto Area. Lessons are one-to-one on video with native Arabic speakers, in Eastern time. Lesson times in Toronto
Ontario's school year runs from September, after Labour Day, to late June (Ontario Regulation 304), so the busy season for evening lessons is the long stretch from fall to early summer. Our teachers work to US hours, so before-school, after-school and weekend slots are available in Eastern time.
| Toronto time | What it suits |
|---|---|
| Weekdays 4:00 to 8:00 pm | After school: the main slot for kids and teens |
| Weekdays 6:30 to 7:30 am | A quiet start before the school run; subject to teacher availability |
| Saturday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm | Weekend lessons without the weeknight rush |
The slot is confirmed when you book.
What is special about the GTA
The Toronto census metropolitan area counted 626,010 Muslims in the 2021 census, or 10.2% of the population, the most of any Canadian metro; in Mississauga the share is 17.0% (Statistics Canada 2021, via Islam in Canada and Mississauga). In Mississauga, Urdu and Arabic are the most common non-official mother tongues after English. Arabic is the language of the Quran, but for many families it is not the language of the home.
That is where a native Arabic teacher who also speaks English helps. A child in Brampton or Scarborough can ask what a word means and get an answer in English, and an adult beginner in Mississauga is not left guessing how a letter sounds.
Which age groups and courses suit GTA students?
- Early kids and Kids, 5 to 12: the Noorani Qaida first, then reading and an online hifz plan that can run part time around school.
- Teens, 13 to 17: tajweed and recitation correction, with Arabic for those who want to understand what they recite.
- Adults, 18 and over: adult beginners and reverts start from the letters; read how adult lessons work.
Sisters in Mississauga and across the GTA
Women who want a tajweed teacher for themselves, and mothers who want one for a daughter, are taught by female teachers only. Murouj Academy follows the Islamic privacy rule: when a female teacher teaches a female student, no non-mahram man can see her. See how privacy works and meet the female Quran teachers.
What families say
No review names a city, and the reviewer below does not either. It is a general comment on convenience from a parent who learns alongside their children, not a GTA testimonial. (Murouj Academy has 30 Google reviews as of October 2026.)
"I really appreciate the convenience and the flexibility Murouj Academy offers me and my children... I like how I can take the classes from the comfort of my home and how flexible they are with the hours."
Saifa Choudhury, Google review

Frequently asked questions
Are there online Quran classes in Toronto for kids after school?
Yes. Ontario children finish school in the afternoon, and Toronto families usually book between 4 and 8 pm Eastern. Our teachers work to US hours, so those evening hours suit them too, and the slot is fixed at your free trial.
Do you offer one-to-one online Quran classes in Mississauga?
Yes. Every lesson in Mississauga, as anywhere else, has one student and one teacher on video. You pick the teacher through free trial classes and keep that teacher once you commit.
Is there a female tajweed teacher online for sisters in Mississauga?
Yes. Sisters learn only from female teachers, and Murouj Academy makes sure no non-mahram man can see a female student. Tajweed for sisters covers the articulation points of the letters and the rules of recitation, with live correction.
Can an 8-year-old in Brampton or Scarborough take online Quran lessons?
Yes. Brampton, Scarborough, Etobicoke and the rest of the GTA all use Eastern time, so the slots are the same. An 8-year-old usually starts with the Qaida or with reading practice, depending on the free trial level check.
How do I learn the Quran online in the GTA with a native Arabic speaker?
Book a free trial and choose a teacher from the profiles. All our teachers are native Arabic speakers. They speak English as well, so a child or adult beginner can follow the explanations.
Is there an online hifz program for kids in Toronto that runs part time around school?
Yes. A child can memorise part time with two to five lessons a week of 30, 45 or 60 minutes after school, with a plan that balances new memorisation and revision. Your teacher sets the pace after the free trial.
Do you teach Arabic classes for kids in Toronto online?
Yes. A native Arabic speaker teaches Arabic one-to-one. Many Toronto children hear Arabic or Urdu at home, and the teacher starts from where the child is, from letters up to reading and speaking.
Do you have Quran classes for adult beginners and reverts in Toronto?
Yes. A new Muslim or an adult who never learned to read Arabic starts from the first letter with the Noorani Qaida, at their own pace. Women learn with women and men with men.
