When can a Sydney child have a lesson?

Our teachers work to US hours, which is Sydney's morning, so before-school and Saturday-morning slots are the best fit. Weekday afternoons are harder to offer.

Sydney time (AEDT) Fit for Sydney families
Weekdays 6:30 to 7:30 am Best fit: a lesson before the school bus; subject to teacher availability
Saturday 8:00 to 10:00 am Best fit: weekend morning; subject to teacher availability
Weekdays 4:00 to 7:00 pm Not promised; ask at the free trial

When Sydney moves to AEST in April, the local times shift by an hour, and we confirm the new times with you.

New South Wales public schools generally run from about 9:00 am to 3:00 pm across four terms; Term 4 in 2026 runs from 12 October to 17 December (NSW Department of Education calendars). A half-hour before-school lesson fits inside that rhythm without touching the school day.

What Sydney's census shows

Greater Sydney had 329,566 Muslims in the 2021 census, or 6.3% of the population (ABS QuickStats, Greater Sydney). In Canterbury-Bankstown, 23.6% of residents are Muslim and 17.2% speak Arabic at home (ABS, Canterbury-Bankstown).

That is roughly one resident in six, so in parts of Western and South-Western Sydney Arabic is the language of many homes. A teacher who is a native Arabic speaker can talk with parents in Arabic and teach the child in English.

Which age groups and courses suit Sydney students?

  • Early kids, 5 to 8: a short before-school lesson on letters and the Noorani Qaida.
  • Kids, 9 to 12: reading with tajweed, and Arabic lessons for children who speak Arabic at home but do not read it.
  • Teens, 13 to 17: recitation correction and memorisation, with Saturday morning as the usual slot.
  • Adults, 18 and over: an early-morning slot before work can suit adults who start later; see Quran classes for adults.

Daughters and sisters

Girls and women are taught by female teachers only, and the Islamic privacy rule is kept: when a female teacher teaches a female student, no non-mahram man can see the student. See privacy in our lessons and the female Quran teachers.

What families say

From our 30 Google reviews as of October 2026: a parent of a six-year-old. The review does not name a city or a time zone.

"I started taking Quran classes for my six year old who is very easily destructed. But his teacher is so sweet... Slowly my son started paying more and more attention. He loves his teacher and has learned a lot from her."
