## Why choose female Tajweed teachers?

Tajweed is a spoken skill. The teacher has to hear you, see your mouth form each letter and correct you again and again, and many sisters are more comfortable doing that with a woman. At Murouj Academy this is a fixed rule, not a favour we try to arrange:

- **Women and girls are always taught by female teachers.** A male teacher never teaches a woman or a girl.
- **Privacy runs both ways.** Women's privacy is respected on both sides of the screen: a non-mahram man must not be on camera or watching while a female teacher teaches. Many of our female teachers normally wear the niqab but teach with their faces uncovered so you can see how letters are formed.
- **Mothers and sisters may sit in.** Lessons are never recorded.

## What happens in a Tajweed lesson for sisters?

One teacher, one student, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, live on Zoom, Google Meet or Halqora, Murouj's own online classroom software.

1. **You recite** a passage aloud.
2. **Your teacher stops you** at a mistake, names the rule or the letter and models the correct sound.
3. **You repeat** until it is right, then continue.
4. **A written report** arrives in your family's WhatsApp group with what was covered and your homework.

## Which sisters is it for?

- **Women who read the Quran but are unsure of their mistakes** and want them fixed in private.
- **Mothers who want to teach their children correctly** and improve their own recitation first.
- **Teenage girls** who read from the Qaida and are ready for rules. Female teachers also teach boys aged 4 to 12, so one teacher can teach a mother and her children.
- **Women who want to memorise or study for an ijazah,** for whom Tajweed is the foundation.

## What will I study?

The rules include noon sakinah and tanween, meem sakinah and madd, and your teacher applies them to the passage you actually read. ## How are the female teachers selected?

Every teacher is a native Arabic speaker, and only the top 4% of applicants qualify. Selection has five steps: an ijazah and recitation check, a Tajweed knowledge check, a teaching skills check, an English fluency check, and a mock lesson with a team member playing the student. Some teachers hold an ijazah, and each profile states which. Murouj matches the teacher for your free trial, and if the fit is not right we switch to another.

**Are there online Tajweed classes for ladies with a female teacher?**

Yes. Murouj Academy teaches Tajweed to women and girls only with female teachers, one-to-one and live on video. A male teacher never teaches a woman or a girl. You start with a free trial class with a female teacher we match to you.

**Can I learn Tajweed if I can already read the Quran but make mistakes?**

Yes, and that is the most common reason sisters join. You recite, the teacher stops you at each mistake, names the rule or the letter involved, models the sound and has you repeat. Fixing it in private is easier than in a group.

**I cannot read Arabic yet. Can I still join?**

You need to read the letters first. If you cannot yet, you begin with the Noorani Qaida with a female teacher, and move on to Tajweed once you can read.

**Can my husband or a male relative be in the room during the lesson?**

No. Women's privacy is respected on both sides of the screen: with a female teacher, a non-mahram man must not be on camera or watching, and that includes the teacher's side too. A mother or a sister is welcome to sit in, and lessons are never recorded.

**What Tajweed rules will I study?**

The Tajweed classes course covers letters and their articulation points, noon sakinah and tanween, meem sakinah, madd, and stopping and starting. Your teacher applies each rule to the passage you read rather than to examples alone.

**How long does it take to learn Tajweed?**

There is no honest single number. It depends on your starting level, how many classes a week you take and how much you practise. Your teacher reviews a plan with you in the first weeks.

**Can a female teacher help me prepare for an ijazah?**

Tajweed is the foundation for memorisation and for ijazah study, so these lessons support either goal. Some of our teachers hold an ijazah, and each profile states which.

**What times are lessons available for women who work or have children?**

Lessons are booked in your local time in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia. Our teachers work to US hours, so daytime slots while children are at school, evenings and weekends are the usual choices. Slots in other regions are arranged at the free trial.
