## Lesson times for Manchester

Lessons run in UK time, and after-school, evening and weekend times are arranged with you at the free trial.

| Manchester time | Best for |
| --- | --- |
| Weekdays 4:30 to 5:30 pm | New hifz for children, right after school |
| Weekdays 7:30 to 9:00 pm | Adults after work |
| Saturday or Sunday morning | A longer revision lesson; arranged with the teacher, so ask at the free trial |

The teacher confirms these times at the free trial, and they depend on teacher availability. We do not offer early-morning lessons for Manchester.

## Hifz around school: sabaq, sabqi and manzil

A hifz plan is more than new pages. A common way to structure each session is in three parts:

- **Sabaq:** the new lesson, a small portion memorised that day.
- **Sabqi:** recent revision, the last few days' lessons.
- **Manzil:** older revision, a rotating review of everything memorised so far.

In a one-to-one lesson the teacher hears all three from your son, so mistakes in older portions are corrected before they harden. Read the [memorisation course](https://muroujacademy.com/courses/quran-memorization-course/) and our guide to [revising what has been memorised](https://muroujacademy.com/how-to-revise-memorized-quran/). A realistic pace depends on age and daily time, and the free trial helps the teacher set it.

## Manchester's community

Manchester has 122,962 Muslims, or 22.3% of residents, in the 2021 census ([ONS 2021, via the MCB](https://mcb.org.uk/2021-census-as-uk-population-grows-so-do-british-muslim-communities/); [Islam in England](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_England)). Families in neighbouring Oldham, Rochdale, Bolton and Salford also book online lessons, since the lesson is on video and the clock is the same.

## Which age groups and courses suit Manchester students?

- **Early kids, 5 to 8:** the Qaida and first reading; hifz usually starts once the child reads steadily.
- **Kids, 9 to 12:** reading with tajweed, then part-time hifz.
- **Teens, 13 to 17:** memorisation that fits around GCSE and A-level years.
- **Adults, 18 and over:** weekday evenings; see [adult Quran classes](https://muroujacademy.com/learn-quran-for-adults/).

## Female teachers for girls and women

Manchester girls and women are taught by female teachers only. The Islamic privacy rule applies: when a female teacher teaches a female student, no non-mahram man can see her. See [privacy and Islamic etiquette](https://muroujacademy.com/safe-and-private-online-quran-classes/) and the [female teachers](https://muroujacademy.com/female-quran-teacher-online/).
