Murouj Academy teaches girls aged 4 to 17 the Quran online, one-to-one, and only with female teachers. Women's privacy is respected on both sides of the screen, your daughter's and her teacher's. Lessons are never recorded, and her mother or sister is welcome to sit in. Murouj matches your family with a teacher for the free trial class.

## How are my daughter's privacy and her teacher's protected?

Privacy comes first, and it works as mutual respect for women on both sides of the screen:

- **Female teachers only.** Girls are taught only by female teachers. Male teachers never teach girls.
- **Her privacy.** When a female teacher teaches your daughter, non-mahram men, including the teacher's husband and other men in her household, are not on camera. A mahram is a close male relative with whom marriage is permanently forbidden, such as a father or brother. A non-mahram man is any other man.
- **Her teacher's privacy.** Your daughter's teacher is entitled to the same privacy. Please keep non-mahram men off camera on your side too, including a visiting relative. Fathers are always welcome to talk to us or our admin team.
- **Never recorded.** Lessons are never recorded, and recording is not allowed. Female admins may join a lesson to observe quality.
- **Mothers and sisters may sit in.** You are welcome to stay for the lesson.
- **One-to-one.** Murouj never runs group classes, so no other student sees or hears your daughter.

## Which age is my daughter in?

Every girl follows a personalised plan, and the teacher confirms the starting point in the free trial. The age bands are a guide.

### Girls aged 4 to 8

The minimum age is 4. Lessons are short and gentle: the Arabic letters and the Noorani Qaida, plenty of repetition, then first reading and short surahs. ### Girls aged 9 to 12

Many girls can now read Arabic and are ready for Tajweed, and for memorisation with a steady revision plan. Arabic and Islamic studies run alongside. ### Girls aged 13 to 17

Teenage girls learn privately, with one teacher who gets to know them. They usually work on Tajweed, recitation correction and memorisation, and many add Arabic to understand what they recite. ## How do you match my daughter with a teacher?

Murouj does the matching. Tell us your daughter's age, level and time zone, and we match her with an available female teacher for the free trial class. If the fit is wrong, Murouj switches her to another female teacher, and this can repeat. When the fit is right, your daughter continues with that teacher.

Every teacher is a native Arabic speaker and speaks fluent English. Every teacher goes through an ijazah and recitation check, a Tajweed knowledge check, a teaching skills check, an English fluency check and a mock lesson, and only the top 4% of applicants qualify. ## Can one female teacher teach my whole family?

## What happens if my daughter's teacher is away?

No class is missed. A female substitute covers until her teacher returns, or the lesson is made up on another day. A girl's substitute is always a woman.

## How do lessons work, and when?

- **Online only.** Lessons run live on Zoom, Google Meet or Halqora, Murouj's own online classroom, on a phone, tablet or computer.
- **US-friendly hours.** Our teachers work to US hours, so lessons fit before school, after school and at weekends. **Will a man be on camera during my daughter's lesson?**

Girls at Murouj Academy are taught only by female teachers, and male teachers never teach girls. Murouj Academy follows Islamic etiquette: the teacher's husband and other non-mahram men in her household are not on camera. Privacy runs both ways, so we ask your family to keep non-mahram men off camera on your side too, out of respect for the teacher. Women's privacy is respected on both sides of the screen.

**Can I sit in on my daughter's lesson?**

Yes. Mothers are welcome to stay for the whole lesson, which helps a nervous beginner, and so are sisters. Female admins may also join a lesson to observe quality.

**Can her father sit in on the lesson?**

Fathers are welcome to talk to us or to our admin team at any time, about the lesson, her progress or any concern. But a father, like any other man, should not sit in or appear on camera while a female teacher is teaching. Privacy is mutual: a woman who teaches with her face uncovered is entitled to the same privacy as your daughter.

**What if her teacher is sick or away?**

No class is missed. If the teacher is away for a day or a few days, the lessons are either made up on other days once she is back, or a temporary substitute teaches until she returns. A girl's substitute is always a female teacher, and her own teacher stays her assigned teacher.

**Is my 4-year-old too young?**

The minimum age at Murouj Academy is 4, so no. A 4-year-old starts gently, usually with the Arabic letters and the Noorani Qaida, in short, friendly one-to-one lessons. Murouj matches your daughter with a teacher for the free trial class, and the teacher sees how ready she is and suggests how to begin.

**Can the same teacher teach my daughters and my son?**

Often, yes. One female teacher can teach the whole family: your daughters, and your sons up to age 12. Each child has their own one-to-one lesson. Boys over 12 are taught by a male teacher.

**Are online Quran classes recorded?**

No. Lessons are never recorded, and recording is not allowed. Only the written report after each class is kept and shared in your family's WhatsApp group with our admin team.

**How does the free trial work, and what if she does not click with the teacher?**

You book the free trial, tell us your daughter's age, level and time zone, and Murouj matches her with a suitable female teacher for a real one-to-one lesson. If the fit is wrong, Murouj switches her to another female teacher, and this can repeat until the fit is right.
