Your free trial is a real one-to-one lesson with that teacher, who checks your level and suggests a personalised plan. **Are the classes one-to-one?** Yes. Murouj Academy teaches one-to-one only and never runs group classes. Every student follows a personalised curriculum, in lessons of 30, 45 or 60 minutes, 2 to 5 times a week. **Who are the teachers?** Every Murouj Academy teacher is a native Arabic speaker from the Arab world. Some hold an ijazah, each profile states which, and many of our teachers studied at or are certified by Al-Azhar. All of them teach in English as well as Arabic. **What is an ijazah?** An ijazah is a formal, chain-based authorisation from a qualified teacher. It certifies that the holder has mastered a body of knowledge, such as reciting the Quran, and may teach it and certify others. A relative or friend who knows the Quran can help you practise, but is not a certified teacher. **Which school of thought do you follow?** We follow mainstream Sunni scholarship. Our teachers focus on the Quran, tajweed, Arabic and core Islamic studies, taught respectfully and without sectarian debate. Families from any background are welcome to try a free class; if a specific topic matters to your family, mention it at the trial and we will match you with a suitable teacher. **Will women and girls be taught by a female teacher?** Yes, always. At Murouj Academy women and girls are taught by female teachers, and adult men are taught by male teachers.
